Dr Durgadas P Kasbekar did genetics research with fungi for 28 years, first as a scientist in CCMB, and then as Haldane Chair in CDFD.  Since retiring in 2017, he has written about genetics research, and research ethics, in thehindu.com, science.thewire.in, and livelaw.in. Before joining CCMB in 1989, he completed school in St. Columba’s, New Delhi (1972), college in BITS, Pilani (1978), a doctorate in SUNY, Stony Brook (1983), and a post-doctorate in Albert Einstein College of Medicine (1989).
