27th January 2023
3:30pm – 5:30 pm
The workshop is about making one’s own book, reading collectively, making a self-curriculum, and creating a collective syllabus that un-brackets imagination and knowledge. The workshop overrules the pagination of the book or the sequencing of the pages of a book—the book which houses children’s puzzles and thoughts. Books children want to hide; syllabi they do not like; subjects they dislike from the core; pages of notebooks they want to tear and throw away. These shared experiences of all-time children inspired us to conceptualize and curate the proposed workshop for children. The workshop is a process to revisit these experiences with children who have stories to share about the school syllabus, or a subject or a school book they wished was lost forever. We draw this workshop from the dak project, discursive creative practices that connect our lives with tangible and ephemeral objects and people.
