Laura Restrepo González
Laura Restrepo González is a prize-winning Colombian novelist and journalist known for her political writings. Her novels such as Story of a Fascination (1986), Isle of Passion (1989), A Tale of the Dispossessed (2001), Smell of Invisible Roses (2002), Delirium (2004), and Too Many Heroes (2009) draw on her close involvement with resistance movements and peace negotiations, and offer profound insights into the deep scars that violence leaves on the individual and society. She studied philosophy and literature at the University of the Andes, Columbia and later earned a degree in political science. She alternates her teaching job at University of Seville, Spain with journalistic work for various media.
