Nirmala Biluka is a visual artist trained in the Baroda School of Art. In her work, she explores the unheard feminine voices in history and contemporary society. Her PhD thesis is on the visual culture of local deities as wall paintings in the city of Hyderabad. She has participated and curated numerous art exhibitions in India and abroad. She has published articles in art journals and news magazines and has presented papers in the interdisciplinary areas of visual art, gender, religion and caste at international forums. She teaches Painting and History of Art at the College of Fine Arts, JNAFA University, Hyderabad.
